Humility and Pleasure

One can only have humility when there is nothing of the past, and the mind is in a state of constantly learning without accumulating.

Humility can only exist when the past, which is thought with all its structure, comes to an end.

What is necessary is a mind that is capable of listening and not doing anything.

Be aware of your own values, thoughts, life existence, so that you yourself will discover the importance or unimportance of pleasure. We must understand pleasure. It is extremely subtle. The sensory pleasures are obvious, but there are deeper pleasures to which thoguht has given vitality, continuity, a drive. If you  do not understand of this basic thing, entering into a field which is completely denuded of all pleasure, and therefore a field of extraordinary bliss, cannot possibly be understood.

The thought goes back over and over again to a happy incident, a pleasurable sensation, a thing remembered that has given great delight. Thought reverts it and builds a structure of expanding and strengthening pleasure. From that background, conscious and unconscious, thought then operates, judges, evaluates, looks and acts.

THought is the outcome of desire. Our whole life is made up of desire, the pleasure that is derived from putting that desire into action, and the sustaining of pleasure by thinking about the action which has given pleasure. Thought gives vitality and continuity to pleasure.

Being Famous

You want to be famous, because inside yourself you are no body. If you are inwardly rich, then it does not matter to you whether you are known or unknown. To be inwardly rich is much more arduous than to be outwardly rich and famous. To be inwardly rich int he mind has to understand and put away things that are not important, like wanting to be famous.

Inward richness implies standing alone, but the man who wants to be famous is afraid to stand alone because he depends on people's flattery and good opinion.

"When you are truly changed, everything around you will also be changed." Said The Mother, in Aurobindo Ashram. Saint Mirabai has also mentioned the same thing. Referring to her spiritual transformation she sang, "Ulat bhayi more nayananki" - Everything now appears altogether different to my eyes."

Aurobindo says: "If the power to think is a remarkable gift, the power not to think is even more so. There is nothing mind can do that cannot be better done in the mind's immobility and thought-free stillness."

When our mind comes out of its phantasies and hankerings by being consciously aware of them, it becomes silent.

There's More To Life

The fact that my own existence, as I exist at this second, is so marvelous, so miracle-like, strange, and supernatural to me, that I unhesitatingly conclude I am always on the margin of life illimitable, and that there are higher conditions of existence. Everything around is supernatural; everything is so full of unexplained meaning.

Written tradition, systems of culture, modes of thought, have for me no existence. From earth and sea and sun, from night, the stars, from day, the trees, the hills, from my own soul - from these I think. My naked mind confronts the unknown. I see not only the existence of the soul, immortality, but, in addition, I realise a soul-life illimitable. 

Time to Think Different

Instead of a set of ideas based on tradition, let me give the mind a new thought drawn straight from the wondrous present, direct this very hour.

I believe in the human being, mind and flesh, from the soul.

Time is Timeless

To the soul, there is no past and no future; all is and will be ever, "in now". For artificial purposes time is mutually agreed on, but there is really no such thing.

Haste not - be at rest, this NOW is eternity.

A Quiet Mind

When the mind is quiet, the body becomes quiet, not the other way round.

A mind that is dull can sit for centuries breathing, concentrating on chakras and kundalini - it can never come upon that which is timeless, that which is real beauty, truth and love. Before this, siddhis, chakras etc are candlelight before the sun.

So put aside the candlelight which all the gurus and books offer you. And do not repeat a word that you yourself have not seen the truth of, which you yourself have not tested.

Empty Your Mind Of Its' Contents

The content of my consciousness is my unhappiness, my misery, my struggles, my sorrows, the frustrations, the pleasures, fears, the agonies, the hatreds - that is my consciousness. Can all that be completely emptied? Not only at the superficial level but right through - the so called unconscious. If it is not possible, then I must live in unending sorrow. I am in prison. So the mind must find out how to empty itself of all the content of itself. This is real meditation.

When there is love there is no image. There must be  relationship between the emptying of consciousness and the thing called love - between the unknown and the known, which is the content of consciousness.

So the mind must find out, how to empty its content, that is have no image - past, present or in future you hurt me or you give me pleasure and therefore I have an image of you. So no image formation. If you don't form an image now, the past images have no place.

I dont depend on anybody to find out what is true and what is false.

Control Your Thoughts

He who can control his thoughts is at the key position of the cosmos. He has the clue, the secret password. Down into the depths of the sea he can dive and find pearls and coral and sunken gold. Over the wide moons he can follow the wind till he feels as if he were clutching the rein of the horizon with is crooked fingers.

Chasing Happiness

One of the cause of the vague unhappiness, restlessness, dissatisfaction, which so many of us feel is that we have never attempted to grasp life at right angles. Instead of pausing in our multifarious activities, instead of pulling aside our quests, we are being perpetually fooled into thinking that happiness is to be reached in the same way as pleasure is, by the possession of something. What people on the contrary find to their astonishment is that when they drop under some tremendous disappointment or under some spiritual shock - this eternal striving and clutching; that real happiness for the first time in their life comes flowing in upon them in a brimming flood. This is not only the doctrine of the 'Tao', it is also the doctrine of Christ, but our crowd - perverted minds have not, in these thousands of years, appropriated this simple revelation.
